Low Energy Astrophysics:About
From Low Energy Astrophysics
Low-energy astrophysics is not a new (or even an old) field of astronomy. It is a suggestion to the astronomical community that we consume less energy in our work.
This wiki was set up in order to facilitate the rapid and distributed writing of a white paper to be submitted to the astro2010 Decadal Review of US Astronomy in response to the State of the Profession. Originally it was only authored by professional astronomers, whose names are listed on the white paper. Their views align with those expressed on this wiki inasmuch as by signing the author list they are agreeing to have the white paper represent them.
The hope was that this page remain useful to the community and its funding agencies after the white paper submission deadline (March 15th, 2009) passed. Since then, more people have joined the "author list", and are presumably getting some value out of the information provided on these pages.
